About Us
The NYC Venture Philanthropy Fund (VPF) is a giving circle built by a community of professionals in both the non-profit and corporate sectors throughout New York City.
The problem:
Social entrepreneurs set out to solve recurrent social/political/economic problems in ourcommunities, requiring real leadership and risk-taking.
But current non-profit funding practices often restrict innovative leaders and there is limited access to expertise to provide management and capacity building skills.
The solution:
You.
We rely on people like you to support and encourage the social entrepreneurs in New York City.
By joining VPF, you join a group of people who understand the power of collective effort and apply this philosophy to giving.
We do this by offering a two year grant to a member-chosen social entrepreneur.
The grant consists of three key elements:
- Money: Voting members of VPF contribute at least $365 a year (or about a dollar a day) to create one large, unrestricted grant that is given to an organization once a year for two years (two-year grants).
- Skills: In addition to granting money, VPF members volunteer their technical skills (PR, marketing, accounting, etc.) to enrich the capacity of the organizations we fund.
- Access to networks: Grantees are invited to all VPF events including speakers series, brunches, etc.
